Temporal Stability of the MMPI

Abstract
The Korean short form of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory of 383 items was administered to 50 male High-school students twice with an interval of one week. The retest coefficients (r) between the two samples ranged from .49 to ..97 with p< .01 significance level for all scales. Scales D, Hy, Pt, and Si were found to differ significantly between the two samples while the means were consistently higher for most of the scales on the first testing.
When profiles with T-score above 60 were compared between the two samples, 12,010 of the 2-point codes gave the same pattern while only one 3-point code and one high point code remained the same. 4200 of the subjects belonged within the normal range(T-score below 60) on the both testing.
Differences between personality and ability or aptitude measurements were discussed in terms of internal consistency, test-retest stability and stability as a personal attribute. Li-
mitations of the blind interpretation of the MMPI profiles from normal samples were also emphasized as an evidence of presence of psychopathology.
